DISASTER RECOVERY INFORMATION – In this difficult time, we’re here to help!

How to apply for FEMA Assistance

There are several ways to apply for assistance:

Online at DisasterAssistance.gov
Call 1-800-621-3362 or TTY 1-200-462-7585
Download FEMA App from the Apple or Google Play stores
Red Cross
DSNAP Pre-Registration

Due to current disaster activity, people applying for assistance by phone are experiencing longer hold times and busy signals. You can apply for assistance and check the status of your case online at DisasterAssistance.gov. FEMA agents will not be able to provide additional information regarding inspections. A FEMA inspector will contact you prior to your inspection. Please continue to monitor the status of your case online.

What you need to apply for assistance?

  • Social Security Number (SSN) OR the SSN of a minor child in the household who is a U.S. Citizen, Non-Citizen National or Qualified Alien
  • Annual Household Income
  • Contact Information (phone number, mailing address, email address*, and damaged home address)
  • Insurance Information (coverage, insurance company name, etc.)
  • Bank Account Information (if you are eligible to receive financial assistance, the money can be deposited in your account)

What to Expect After Applying for FEMA Assistance

  • A remote inspection will be the primary form of inspection for applicants who reported that their home is not livable, sanitary and safe and require an inspection.
  • Applicants who self-reported during registration that they received minimal damage and can live in their homes will not automatically be scheduled for a home inspection. Instead, they will receive a letter from FEMA explaining that they may call the FEMA Helpline to request an inspection if they find significant disaster-caused damage to their home after they applied.
  • Remote inspections have no impact on eligibility for the types of Other Needs Assistance available that do not require an inspection. This includes childcare, transportation, medical and dental, funeral expenses, miscellaneous expenses, moving and storage, and Group Flood Insurance Policy Assistance.
