WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GENERAL AND SPECIAL DAMAGES?

In Louisiana:

General damages include past and future pain and suffering; mental anguish; loss of enjoyment of life; loss of consortium; and permanent disability of the body.

Special damages include property damage; car rental; loss of use; past and future medical expenses; lost wages; and loss of earning capacity.

DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR LEGAL SERVICES?

In Louisiana: personal injury attorneys are usually paid on a contingency fee basis. At the D’Amico Law Office, we operate on a contingency fee contract. If we are not successful with your case, you will not owe us anything.

IS THERE A DEADLINE TO MAKE A CLAIM?

Yes. Every state has different laws regarding how long you have to file a lawsuit. For example, In Louisiana; you have one year from the date of your accident to file a lawsuit.
